Days 7

  1. 今天 jīn tiān today

The days of the week are numbered, from 星期一Xīng qī yī, Monday, to 星期六Xīng qī liù, Saturday. Sunday is 星期天Xīng qī tiān, or 星期日Xīng qī rì.

In a day 6

  1. 早上 zǎo shang morning
  2. 上午 shàng wǔ morning (till noon)
  3. 中午 zhōng wǔ noon
  4. 下午 xià wǔ afternoon
  5. 晚上 wǎn shang evening; night
  6. 现在 xiàn zài now

上午shàng wǔ and 下午xià wǔ are before and after noon, 中午zhōng wǔ. A time comes early in a sentence, before what happens: 我wǒ下午xià wǔ去qù.

The clock 4

  1. 点 diǎn o'clock
  2. 分钟 fēn zhōng minute (of time passing)
  3. 小时 xiǎo shí hour
  4. 刻 kè quarter of an hour

A time goes biggest first: 三sān点diǎn一刻yī kè三sān點diǎn一刻yī kè, a quarter past three; 两liǎng点diǎn半bàn兩liǎng點diǎn半bàn, half past two. 分fēn is a minute on the clock, 分钟fēn zhōng分鐘fēn zhōng a minute passing: 二十èr shí分钟fēn zhōng二十èr shí分鐘fēn zhōng, twenty minutes.

Months and years 7

  1. 年 nián year
  2. 月 yuè month
  3. 号 hào day of the month (said)
  4. 今年 jīn nián this year
  5. 去年 qù nián last year
  6. 明年 míng nián next year
  7. 生日 shēng rì birthday

The months are numbers too: 一月Yī yuè is January, 十二月Shí èr yuè December. A date goes year, month, day: 2026年nián秊nián10月yuè27号hào號hào.
